One thing that stands out to me about cocaine and amphetamines is that both are stimulants that affect the central nervous system, resulting in increased energy, focus, and feelings of euphoria. They do, however, have a high risk of misuse and addiction, as well as serious physical and psychological side effects. Cocaine is a highly addictive and strong narcotic that can cause cardiovascular difficulties, convulsions, and other significant health concerns (NIDA, 2021). Long-term usage can develop tolerance and reliance, making quitting difficult. Amphetamines, on the other hand, are frequently used to treat medical problems such as ADHD and narcolepsy, but they can also be misused recreationally (NIDA, 2019).
